More than just another NDIS provider

- Our Ethos -

Value for Clients, Always

Solicitude Support Services was founded on the belief that support work should never come with a heavy profit motive. Unlike many other NDIS providers, we believe every NDIS participant deserves a provider which prioritises personalised, high-quality support over corporate profits.

Experience tells us that support work demands significant emotional intelligence, social sensitivity, and an intuitive understanding of others’ needs. It requires patience, adaptability, and a deep commitment to helping participants develop and thrive. These attributes, while intangible, are critical to building trust and fostering meaningful progress in individuals’ lives and should be recognised and rewarded justly for the positive impact they make on the lives of others.

To reflect our commitment to service and value for participants, we only charge what we need for NDIS registration, insurances and admin fees, reinvesting in our staff by paying them some of the highest rates in the industry. Our team deserves fair compensation that recognises and rewards the incredible work they do. We are committed to investing in our staff, as they invest in you.

Commitment to Quality and Expertise
At Solicitude Support Services, quality means providing clients with support from highly trained and knowledgeable professionals. Many of our team members are, in addition, to support workers, current or former teachers, teaching assistants, or students in allied health or teaching disciplines who offer deeper insights and expertise to their support profession.

Our goal is to bring together some of the best, most passionate, most dedicated, and most qualified support workers, to help you achieve your goals and create lasting, positive impacts on the lives of our participants.

We pride ourselves on our team and the invaluable expertise they bring to their work.

Zachary Dinnessen

- Director, 4th Year Pre-Service Teacher, ADHD

Age: 24. Interests: Music, Dirt bikes, Cars

My support journey started as a relief teacher’s assistant role at a support school in Hobart. I quickly fell in love with the role, finding joy in working with students, helping to discover solutions to problems, and being rewarded by seeing the impact my work had. I was then introduced to support work through a parent, which attracted more parents, and before I knew it, I was working full-time as a teacher's assistant and supporting over five clients as an independent support worker. I couldn’t get enough, soon adding full-time university studies to the mix as what seemed a natural progression, allowing me to do more and be more helpful. I now have over 7 clients, and there honestly aren’t enough hours in a day, which is what has inspired me to create this NDIS-registered support business to provide better support to clients and to support others who are as passionate and motivated as I am.

I really do love my job, and seeing the impact I’ve made on people’s lives is truly what drives me to work more. I am proud to say that I have over 10,000 hours of knowledge and expertise working with a variety of disabilities, specialising in ASD and ADHD, working with occupational therapists, spent time working as a speech pathology assistant, and can now say I am NDIS registered.

I am proud and privileged to work in this industry and am truly dedicated to developing best practices and providing high-quality support. I hope Solicitude can be the change I want to see for the NDIS and for those living with a disability.

I spent several years as a carpenter and needed a career change.

Despite only having 6 months in the disability industry, I have experience working in SIL accommodation, and support 6 clients with a range of various support needs and abilities. Zac and his team have been invaluable to my learning and development in becoming a better support worker. Solicitudes individualised support plans that are based around each participants needs and goals has been an instrumental tool in helping me grow as a support worker and get the best outcomes for my participants.

Solicitude’s Support Programs

We are currently onboarding new clients to start Term 2, 2025 (April 28th).

We offer a range of support from:

Day Programs and Weekend Support:

Developed around our participants’ interests and goals. Common activities include bush walks, cooking, reading, bike riding, going to Bounce, the pool, the movies, bowling, parks, and developing skills around community access, language development, independence and autonomy.

After School Supports:

Solicitude specialises in this area, providing support to participants after school to attend sport commitments, allied health appointments, and develop programs around participants’ goals, such as in-house so-safe programs, literacy support, speech and occupational therapy development, emotional regulation and personalised learning support.

In-Home Support:

Supporting participants in their homes, including the development of independent living skills. Examples include supporting participants in getting ready for school in the morning and implementing routines using visual aids and timetables to promote independence. Additionally, it may provide support so that families can have some respite from their care needs.

  • Access Community Social and Rec Activities (0125)

  • Assistance With Self-Care Activities (0107)

  • Daily Living Life Skills (0117)

We plan to introduce centre-based and respite supports in the future once our NDIS registration is complete.

Our Passion to Support

What motivates you to be a support worker?

"I think its the ability to have such a big impact on such little things. Like some of my fondest moments with clients are teaching someone to ride a bike. Seeing his smiles and how proud he was, coming home and sharing his accomplishments with his parents. Being a small factor in creating that success is truly what motivates me. "

Zac

What motivates me to be a support worker is the profound impact I can have on the lives of children by helping them develop confidence and autonomy in their abilities. Witnessing a child grow from uncertainty to self-assurance is incredibly rewarding, as they develop confidence in themselves and their abilities. My role is not just about providing support, but about empowering these young individuals to achieve the goals that are most important to them.

Madeleine

Everyone is different, so how do you tailor support and learning to meet each individual's needs?

Tailoring support and learning to meet individual needs involves a collaborative approach with the individual, their family, support coordinators, and specialists. This process begins with understanding the individual's unique needs and goals through comprehensive assessments and open dialogue. Support coordinators and specialists work together to develop personalised plans that integrate expert advice and resources, while families provide valuable insights and support. The result is a flexible, goal-focused program that adapts to the individual's evolving needs and objectives.

"Well, I once used Pokémon to improve a participants reading and fluency. Why not use Pokémon? It’s engaging, it has a lot of text, and it's clearly a fun and effective method that has seen a significant improvement in his reading and fluency. I am a bit over the current norm of molding students to an education model. Why aren’t we molding the model to fit students? Surely that has to be a better approach?"

  • Pricing is competitive and cheaper* than most other NDIS providers.

Our philosophy and business does not support the capitalist nature of other providers.

We pay our support workers some of the highest hourly rates, taking only 10% to cover registration, insurance, and admin costs. The rest goes into the pockets of our more than deserving support workers who do provide the highest quality supports compare to other organisations that pay significantly less.
